The SIM800L GPRS/GSM module is a complete cellular solution packed onto a core board. It functions as a powerful engine for M2M (Machine-to-Machine) communication, allowing microcontrollers like Arduino to interact with the world through the global GSM network. The module is designed for easy integration, featuring a standard TTL serial port for communication and a MicroSIM card slot for network access.
To ensure reliable connectivity in various scenarios, the board includes an onboard PCB antenna and also provides a pin (NET) for soldering an external wire antenna, giving you flexibility depending on your enclosure and signal strength requirements. While incredibly powerful, it requires a stable 4V power supply capable of delivering up to 2A current peaks during transmission for optimal operation.
