SIM808 GSM/GPRS/GPS Development Board | Quad-Band with Bluetooth | Arduino Compatible
Product Description :
The SIM808 Development Board is a feature-packed platform that consolidates multiple wireless technologies. It combines a quad-band GSM/GPRS modem for global cellular connectivity, a high-sensitivity GPS receiver for accurate location services, and Bluetooth for short-range wireless communication. This integration allows you to create sophisticated projects such as vehicle trackers, personal safety devices, and remote environmental monitoring systems without the need for multiple, separate modules.
The board is engineered for ease of use, featuring dedicated antenna interfaces (GSM, GPS, Bluetooth), a MicroSIM card slot, and a TTL serial interface for communication. A unique logic level control pin (VMCU) ensures safe operation with 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5V microcontroller systems. With multiple power input options, including a wide-range DC input and a lithium battery connector, it offers maximum flexibility for both portable and stationary applications.
Key Features :
-
Quad-Band GSM/GPRS Module: Provides global cellular coverage for voice calls, SMS, and GPRS data transmission.
-
Integrated GPS Receiver: Offers precise location tracking with a dedicated GPS antenna interface.
-
Bluetooth Connectivity: Enables short-range wireless communication with phones, tablets, and other devices.
-
Flexible Power Supply: Supports a wide input voltage range of 5V-26V via DC jack and 3.5V-4.2V for Li-ion batteries.
-
Adjustable Logic Level: The VMCU pin allows safe UART communication with 1.8V, 3.3V, and 5V microcontrollers.
-
Arduino & RPi Compatible: Easily interfaces with popular development boards via TTL serial.
-
Comprehensive Control: Features a power button for controlled startup and status LEDs for network and operation indication.
Applications :
The SIM808 board is the perfect core for a wide range of location-aware and connected projects:
-
Vehicle and Asset Tracking Systems
-
Personal Safety and Emergency Alert Devices
-
Portable Data Loggers and IoT Gateways
-
Fleet Management and Telematics Solutions
-
Outdoor Adventure and Sports Tracking Equipment
-
Remote Weather Stations and Environmental Monitors
Basic Hardware Setup:
-
Insert SIM Card: Place a valid MicroSIM card into the holder.
-
Connect Antennas: Attach the external GSM and GPS antennas to their respective SMA connectors.
-
Provide Power: Connect a 5V-26V power supply (capable of 2A) to the DC jack or V_IN pin.
-
Interface with MCU: Connect the board's RXD/TXD/GND to your microcontroller's UART pins. Set the VMCU pin to your microcontroller's logic voltage (3.3V or 5V).
-
Power On: Flip the power switch to ON, then press and hold the POWKEY button for 2 seconds to start the module. The status LED will flash slowly once registered on the network.
Note: The GSM/GPRS module can draw up to 2A during transmission peaks. Ensure your power supply is stable and can deliver this current to avoid reboots or unstable operation.
